My job as a "Ceremony Specialist" is to create a ceremony that beautifully reflects a person's life & beliefs; selecting meaningful readings, music & rituals, and writing a "soul sketch" of the person who has died that is true to who they were. You will recognize your loved one in the eulogy and ceremony I create. Re-writes and refinements of the various parts of the funeral are all included - my job is to get it right! I offer traditional funerals and memorial services, celebrations of life, home funerals, graveside committals and scattering of cremated remains. I also offer these through Zoom.
"Anniversary Memorials" help soothe the pain of grief in the years after a loved one's death. Grief is not a linear process; it has its own rhythms and cycles. Often we can anticipate a resurgence of grief on the anniversary of our loved one's death. An Anniversary Memorial is an opportunity to gather with friends and loved ones and remember the person who has died. In this way too, the memory and life of our dear one lives on among us.
Finally, as a life-long animal lover, I offer Pet Funerals and "Euthanasia Support" which means that I will accompany you to your Veterinarian's office and help you get through this painful time.
Call or text me at 503.866.6420 or email me at pdxcelebrant@gmail.com so we may begin our conversation.
I look forward to serving you.

"BLESSING" by John O'Donohue
On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.
And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window
and the ghost of loss
gets in to you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green,
and azure blue
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.
